I participated in ApacheCon US 2005<\/a> and came back to Korea. There has never been a week which is felt very short like this. I also want to talk about many things because I experienced something brand new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I suffered from jet lag for the first few days. I had no remaining stamina, and meals were too irregular. I often felt dizzy and slept in the room during day, so I attended only one session. I guess I need to buy the ApacheCon DVD and watch it later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The term \u2018Conference\u2019 reminds people of the various conference sessions from famous people, but the face of ApacheCon was very different. In Hackathon hall on the basement floor or in BOF session room, people got together and had conversation with team crew from distant land. It was not that hard to see people weaving social network with many other people. I think it was almost everything of this conference for people to meet many people, shake their hands, introduce themselves to each other, join the conversation, and identify each other\u2019s profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I practiced my English skill even registering 1-to-1 language course, but it was really tough for me to communicate with native speakers on foreign land. I made mistakes and panicked. Talking to people from Europe was even harder. But I was able to recover my confidence, which I lost when I landed in the US temporarilly, thanks to all tolerant colleagues I met in the conference, and I was able to finish my presentation successfully, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talking with the colleagues, I realized again that the importance of language and communication may not be overlooked. The people, only who can penetrate others\u2019 heart using clear and confident voice and accurate expression, can win the recognition of his ability. And by understanding more languages, we face the wider world, and enjoy the resources the world provides. We sometimes forget this important fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference ended very soon leaving many lessons on me. Returning airplane was seriously shaken due to turbulence for a few hours, but I came back home now safely. I got used again to the crowded street of Seoul thanks to my family and girl friend who have been missing me, but I expect that I can look at many things with a little bit wider vision hopefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
